COMMUNITY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES ANNOUNCES JOINT VENTURE

Texas Hospital Partners with Parastar, Inc. in Formation of New Emergency Medical Service Provider

(TEMPLE, TX)  Community Emergency Medical Services (CEMS), of Southfield, Michigan is pleased to announce the partnership of Parastar, Inc. with Scott & White Hospital in the formation of a joint venture to be known as Scott & White EMS, Inc.  Parastar is a corporate division of CEMS that performs EMS billing, consulting and outsourced management services on a national scale.

Located in Temple, Texas, the institution that became Scott & White Hospital was formed in 1905 by Drs. Arthur Scott and Raleigh White.  Boasting more than two-dozen clinics and hospitals, Scott & White is both the teaching hospital for Texas A & M University and ranks in the top 100 hospitals nationally.

The joint venture is the culmination of a Parastar consulting deliverable for an operational assessment and strategic planning project for the existing operations of the emergency medical division, having operated as a department of the hospital for more than nineteen years.  Parastar was then contracted to perform outsourced management in the implementation of these measures, achieving remarkable success in the department’s transformation into a profit center and in entering negotiations for a partnership to become operational the first of October.

Parastar consultancies for large health care corporations have been instrumental in the growth of Community EMS by means identifying opportunities for expansion into previously under-serviced markets, while improving EMS operations and access for the organizations and communities they serve.  With an additional unannounced venture recently incorporated in Michigan and projections to launch two to three additional partnerships annually, CEMS currently operates the following joint-venture EMS organizations with their respective parental entities:

  • Community Ambulance Service – Genesis HealthCare System (1994)
  • Regional EMS – McLaren Healthcare System (1996)
  • HealthLink Medical Transportation – Oakwood Healthcare Center (1997)
  • DMCare Express – The Detroit Medical Center (2007)
  • Scott & White EMS – Scott & White Hospital (2007)

Scott & White EMS will operate under the supervision of Director Chuck Pearson and CEO Greg Beauchemin as well as the Board of Directors and Medical Director, Dr. Robert Greenburg.
