Ambulance teams from Community EMS carry Botsford support to Katrina
victims.
Farmington Hills, Mich., September 6, 2006 -- Five Community EMS ambulances
and crews along with a support vehicle stocked with supplies left Michigan
yesterday for Baton Rouge, La., to aid victims of Katrina.
Community EMS has made an agreement with the Federal Emergency Management
Agency to maintain five vehicles and crews in the region for at least
30 days. Crews will be comprised of employees of Community EMS and its
corporate partners, Regional EMS, HealthLink and Community Ambulance Service,
who had volunteered for the disaster relief duty. Crews will rotate in
and out of the region due to the difficult working conditions they expect
to encounter.
The vehicles are also transporting 360 gallons of water donated by McKesson
Medical, Botsford General Hospital’s entire stock of Hepatitis A
vaccine, and nearly $500,000 of medical supplies donated by Botsford,
CEMS and its partners.
The Botsford Health Care Continuum is an integrated system of care that
includes Botsford General Hospital, the Botsford Physician Network, Community
Emergency Medical Service, the Botsford Continuing Care Corporation and
the Botsford Center for Health Improvement. The Botsford site on the internet
is www.botsfordsystem.org.
