Ambulance teams from Community EMS garner
top honors in state competition
Southfield, Mich., April 27, 2006
-- Advanced Life Support EMS team representing Community EMS took
top honors at the 2006 Michigan EMS Expo Competition held last weekend.
The team, comprised of Paramedic’s Pam Davidson, Cindy DeSousa,
Diane Talbot and EMT-Specialist Terry Warner, received first place
among 12 teams; the event represented the first formal competition
experience for the team. The competition included both a written
examination and practical scenarios, which required teams to demonstrate
skills in lifesaving procedures. Warner scored first place on the
written test for EMS Specialists and Davidson received the second
highest score on the Advanced Life Support exam. In addition BLS
and ALS teams from HealthLink Medical Transportation Services, a
jointly owned EMS service with Oakwood Health Care System and Community
EMS, won second place in their respective categories.
“Our EMS teams practiced two days a week since December. We
are very proud of their success, and we are fortunate to have people
of their caliber and commitment working with us,” said Greg
Beauchemin, Community EMS President/CEO.
Community EMS team members are now heading to Orlando Florida to
compete in the International ClinCon Convention in June.
